Conjugated polymers for information storage and neuromorphic computing

Abstract: In the era of information explosion, silicon‐based storage can barely meet the burgeoning demand for data storage and making Moore's law no longer accurate. What is more, the traditional von Neumann architecture separates the computing module from the storage unit, which causes a slowing down of the overall computing efficiency. Conjugated polymer memristors, due to the advantages of simple fabrication, convenient operation and low cost, are considered as promising candidates for next‐generation memory and neu… Show more

“…Crosslinking of P1 with Bis-TCO Carbamate Derivative (8) In addition to the grafting of poly(ethylene glycol) onto the backbone of P1,i ti sa lso possible to carry out ac rosslinking reaction. Reaction of the nitrophenyl carbonate 6 with 1,4-diaminobutane resulted in the difunctional crosslinker 8 ( Figure 5), which could be subsequently used to carry out IEDDAc hemistry to crosslink polymer P1.T he crosslinking chemistry occurs rapidly over the course of several minutes, liberating ac rosslinked network polymer (see Supporting Information, Video 2, for avideo of the process).…”

“…Since their discovery, conjugated polymers have played an increasingly important role in numerous disruptive technologies. The wide array of structures that constitute the polymer backbone allows their optimization for applications that include lighting and displays, [1] energy generation and storage, [2,3] sensors, [4,5] field-effect transistors, [6,7] as well as information storage and computing. [8] Avariety of conjugated polymer properties can be modified by varying polymer structure,i ncluding band gap,H OMO and LUMO levels, extinction coefficient, quantum yield, conductivity,a nd solubility. [9][10][11][12][13][14] However,m odification of polymer properties typically requires the preparation of new polymer structures, which are prepared via de novo synthesis incorporating new monomers.…”

“…The first examples of degradable EAP-based DDSs were based on electroactive oligomers of aniline combined with nonelectroactive blocks, , and since that time, other examples have been reported in the literature incorporating electroactive oligomers (typically oligoanilines). , The literature precedent on the toxicity of oligoanilines ,, motivates the investigation of biomaterials incorporating other electroactive moieties, for example, oligopyrroles/porphyrins, which are being developed for a multitude of technical and medical applications. …”
