Conjugated Polymer/Graphene Oxide Nanocomposites—State-of-the-Art

Abstract: Graphene oxide is an imperative modified form of graphene. Similar to graphene, graphene oxide has gained vast interest for the myriad of industrial applications. Conjugated polymers or conducting polymers are well known organic materials having conducting backbone. These polymers have semiconducting nature due to π-conjugation along the main chain. Doping and modification have been used to enhance the electrical conductivity of the conjugated polymers. The nanocomposites of the conjugated polymers have been r… Show more

“…The cyclic voltammographs (CVs) for the pristine C1 copolymer and the produced hybrid materials after the addition of 3, 5 and 10% wt rGO respectively are illustrated in Figure 4 . It is apparent that for lower rGO concentrations (3 and 5 wt%) a significant alteration on the redox potentials is experienced and therefore to the HOMO and LUMO levels, while in higher concentration (10 wt%) the redox potentials are similar to those obtained for the pristine copolymer [ 34 ]. This effect is observed for all three hybrid systems since it is also evident in Figure 5 (C2) and in Figure 6 (C3).…”

“…In a review of the composite materials of PTh and its derivatives, not a single application38 in a supercapacitor is mentioned [ 75 ]. Considering conjugated polymers and conducting polymers as synonyms, as is the case in [ 76 ], appears to be misleading: conjugation is a requirement for conduction, but not all conjugated polymers are conducting.…”

“…CNTs coated with PANI showed a fourfold charge storage capability as compared to plain CNTs [ 128 ]. Calling the carbonaceous component in a composite “filler” may be misleading [ 76 , 118 ]. The incorporation of CNTs as reinforcing nanowires has been reported with a reference to the use of these materials in supercapacitors in [ 129 ].…”
