“…It is reported that the reduction in aspect ratio by 25 % in a horizontal plate kept below the porous medium leads to 30-45 % reduction in temperature rise in the solid plate for Rayleigh number ranging from 1 to 1000 (Vaszi et al 2001), and the plate thickness plays an important role in boundary layer formation (Vaszi et al 2002). It is also noticed that in case of a solid cylindrical fin in porous medium, the local heat transfer coefficient and the local heat flux show a more gradual drop along the rounded tip as the aspect ratio of the fin becomes larger (Vaszi et al 2004).
