Congestion Avoidance for Smart Devices by Caching Information in MANETS and IoT

Abstract: Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs) comprise a large number of mobile wireless nodes that can move in a random fashion with the capability to join or leave the network anytime. Due to the rapid growth of devices on the Internet of Things (IoT), a large number of messages are transmitted during information exchange in dense areas. It can cause congestion that results in increasing transmission delay and packet loss. This problem is more severe in larger networks with more network traffic and high mobility that enfo… Show more

“…Every node in a MANET functions as both host, which acts as a normal terminal device, and router, which forwards packets to assist routing operations. These nodes can be any personal device such as laptops, mobile phones, or tablets that are battery-driven in general [ 2 ].…”

“…Meanwhile, it performs the random token generation mechanism to solve the reservation conflicts of the nodes with same priority. Then, based on the consideration of multi-hop cooperative characteristic in the end-to-end transmission of MANETs [ 36 , 37 , 38 ], the source node and routing nodes have been jointly considered as a whole link when allocating slots. In SP-DS algorithm, a transmission path from source node to the destination node is firstly constructed through the routing module in the reservation phase.…”
