“…A stab incision on the fundus of the uterus adequate to just admit a probe was used to minimize post-operative adhesion formation that could affect future fertility. Unilateral renal agenesis is complicated by recurrent urinary tract infections, hypertension and renal stones [12]. This patient had none of these and is being closely monitored.…”

“…Most adult patients who have unilateral renal agenesis or atrophy are asymptomatic and are usually diagnosed with this condition by incidental findings on abdominal imaging for unrelated medical conditions. Congenital unilateral renal agenesis, which is a relatively well-described urological anomaly, has an approximate incidence of 1 in 2000 to 2 Case Reports in Obstetrics and Gynecology 2500 live births and 1 in 1000 based on autopsy results [2,3]. This condition can occur as an isolated congenital anomaly; however, between 30 and 50% of patients have associated urological, genital, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, and skeletal abnormalities [3].…”

“…Zerin et al (22) found that in children referred for imaging due to antenatally detected renal abnormalities, reflux appeared in 4 of 4 with renal agenesis, in 4 of 15 with multicystic kidney disease and in 8 of 40 with pelvo-ureteric junction obstruction. Other reports (23,24) quote contralateral reflux frequency in children with renal agenesis as 37-50%. Lebowitz and Blickman (25) found contralateral reflux in 10% of children with pelvo-ureteric junction obstruction.…”
