Congenital Seminal Vesicle Cyst Associated with Ipsilateral Renal Agenesis

Abstract: PurposeA seminal vesicle cyst in combination with ipsilateral renal agenesis is rarely encountered. We present cases of this disease entity with symptoms, which were treated with a laparoscopic approach as a minimally invasive surgical treatment.Materials and MethodsWe experienced 4 patients with seminal vesicle cysts and ipsilateral renal agenesis. The mean age was 45.8 years. Chief complaints were perineal pain and hematospermia. Seminal vesicle cysts and remnant ureters were excised by laparoscopic surgery … Show more

“…5 Since then, apart from sporadic case reports of laparoscopic SV cyst excision, single-center studies have been reported with high success rates, minimal blood loss, quick convalescence, and minimal postoperative pain. [6][7][8] The robotic platform offers certain distinct advantages over conventional laparoscopy, such as stereoscopic, magnified vision and endo-wristed instrumentation, allowing for more precise dissection especially in confined areas such as the pelvis. Five cases of robotic SV excision and one single-center study with 6 patients including 4 with SV cyst excision, have been reported in the literature to date.…”

“…During renal sonographic mass screening among 280,000 children in a 2.5-year period in Taipei, the reported incidence of cystic dilatations in the pelvis with ipsilateral renal agenesis or dysplasia was 0.0046% [1]. …”
