“…There are many reports for initial treatments and problems of CPC cases in the literature, but although the functional results and problems regarding prognosis in later periods are limited, the recent results of Puri et al [13] are very conspicuous. They reported that despite normal sacrum, well-developed sphincteric muscles, and a good operation, long-term prognosis of fecal continence, growth and development, and quality of life appears to be unsatisfactory for all subtypes of CPC [13]. These patients can face recurrent attacks of diarrhea, enterocolitis, and redilatation after coloplasty as well as fecal soiling; and they may eventually need a permanent colostomy [4].…”
