Congenital perianal lipoma: a case report and review of the literature

Abstract: BackgroundThe surgical strategy for congenital perineal lipoma varies depending on the size, location, and accompanying congenital anomalies, with the optimum approach remaining to be determined. “…Thorough examination of the fetus and newborn is mandatory because, in 74% of cases, perineal lipoma is associated with other anomalies. There are only a few reports of prenatally detected perineal lipoma 2 . However, with the availability of high‐resolution sonography, a detailed description of fetal genitalia is possible and 3D sonography has proven to be a valuable tool in visualizing genital and perineal abnormalities.…”
