Conflict Resolution in Structured Argumentation

Abstract: While several interesting argumentation-based semantics for defeasible logic programs have been proposed, to our best knowledge, none of these approaches is able to fully handle the closure under strict rules in a sufficient manner: they are either not closed, or they use workarounds such as transposition of rules which violates desired directionality of logic programming rules. We propose a novel argumentation-based semantics, in which the status of arguments is determined by attacks between newly introduced … Show more

“…As pointed out by Baláž et al . (2014a), this is not in line with the intuitions of some non-monotonic rule-based formalisms, like logic programming, where the rules are treated as unidirectional. Hence, using such a framework with the aim to derive a semantics for DeLP may lead to some undesirable consequences.…”

It is basically a framework for structured argumentation rather than a particular system, where a particular language and argument ordering (preferences on arguments used in conflict resolutions) is left to be determined by the user.…”

“…The formal notion of CRS occurs in previous works [1,2], where the focus was however entirely on DeLP. In the current work, these ideas are largely pushed forward resulting into the extension of ABF as a generic framework with improved capabilities and properties, capable to embed any non-monotonic formalism, not only DeLP.…”

“…Asymmetric structures have been recently thoroughly investigated theoretically [16,27,28] as well as experimentally at low and zero applied field [17,18]. Nevertheless, the wavy torque-induced magnetization dynamics has been studied so far only in the macrospin approximation [29,30] which does not describe correctly the dynamics at low applied magnetic field [18] and is, thus, not able to reproduce the experimental observations completely. Therefore, part of this work is dedicated to the calculation of the STT in the diffusive transport limit and comparison of the systematic numerical study to the experimental findings [31,32].…”
