Cone-beam computed tomography assessment of root canal transportation using WaveOne Gold and Neoniti single-file systems

Abstract: Introduction:The aim of this study was to compare canal transportation of two single-file systems, WaveOne Gold and Neoniti, using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).Methodology:A total of 40 mesiobuccal canals of maxillary first molars with curvatures of 15°–30° were chosen and randomly divided into two experimental groups (n = 20). In both groups, glide path was established using ProGlider. In group 1, canals were shaped with WaveOne Gold and in group 2 with Neoniti A1, respectively. According to manufactu… Show more

“…12,22,23 To study the performance of the instruments examined through the whole canal length, the analysis of three different canal levels-apical, middle, and coronal levels, represented by 3 mm, 5 mm, and 7 mm from the apex, respectively, was performed. 21,24,25 The results of this study showed that at the middle and the coronal levels, there was no significant difference between the four groups in canal centering ratio or the amount of canal transportation. However, at the apical level, WaveOne Gold files showed the best centering ratio and the least amount of canal transportation.…”

“…32 Previous studies showed similar performance for WaveOne Gold. 25,33,34 It was found that all the four groups showed a centering ratio more than one at the apical level indicating the tendency of all the instruments used to prepare more of the outer surface of the canal curvature rather than the inner surface. 17…”

“…The presence of curved canals can be challenging during root canal preparation and are not always detected clearly on periapical radiographs, which can cause undesirable shaping errors (Vallabhaneni et al . , Yammine et al . ).…”

“…The presence of curved canals can be challenging during root canal preparation and could not be clearly detected by periapical radiographs, which can cause undesirable shaping errors (YAMMINE et al, 2017;VALLABHANENI et al, 2017). During all the studies, single-rooted tooth with oval shaped canal with root curvatures ranging from 15° to 35° were used.…”
