Abstract:The anterior region of the mandible is a site of insertion of the muscles that support and position the tongue superiorly and anteriorly in the oral cavity. The bilateral fracture pattern in mandibular parasymphysis can result in loss of this support and present of the lingual musculature, putting the upper airway patency at risk.
