Conductometric Studies of Formation the Inclusion Complexes of Phenolic Acids with β-Cyclodextrin and 2-HP-β-Cyclodextrin in Aqueous Solutions

Abstract: An attempt was made to evaluate the possibility of creating and assessing the stability of inclusion complexes of selected phenolic acids [trans-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (trans-p-coumaric acid), trans-3,4-dihydroxycinnamic acid (trans-caffeic acid), trans-4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamic acid, (trans-ferulic acid) and trans-3-phenylacrylic acid (trans-cinnamic acid)] with β-cyclodextrin and 2-HP-β-cyclodextrin in aqueous solutions in a wide temperature range 283.15 K–313.15 K. On the basis of the values of the limiti… Show more

“…The results obtained in this work also indicate a large impact of the hydrophobicity effects on the complexation process in the systems studied . Taking into account and comparing the results presented in this work (as well as the results contained in our previous work [ 17 , 18 ]) with the literature data presenting the constant values for the formation of inclusion complexes of various carboxylic acids with cyclodextrins obtained by various measurement techniques (mainly spectral), it should be stated that conductometry is the most accurate method used in this type of research. This research technique also allows for the study of the complexation process in a wide range of temperatures.…”

“…The molar conductivity and the formation constant ( K f ) values of inclusion complexes were calculated according to the procedures described in our previous work [ 17 , 18 ]. Taking this into account and the calculation procedures described in work [ 17 , 18 ], we obtain the following relations: …”

“…The α-CD, β-CD, and γ-CD are composed of 6, 7, and 8 glucose units by α-(1,4) glycogsidic bonds, respectively [12] . The inner diameters of α-CD, β-CD, and γ-CD are 4.5 Å, 7.0 Å, and 8.5 Å, respectively [13] . The inside cavity of CDs consists of hydrogen atoms and glycosidic oxygens that show lipophilicity to provide hydrophobic surroundings for hydrophobic guest molecules [14] .…”

“…Regrettably, self-healing performance was only 67%. 23 The WPU modified polyrotaxane exhibited exceptional mechanical flexibility and toughness, 22,[24][25][26][27][28] but was unable to self-heal because of the absence of reversible interactions. Hence, the synergistic construction of advanced ordered aggregates from polyrotaxane (PPR) and other green organic compounds through noncovalent as well as covalent interactions promises to exhibit superior performance over simply constructed units.…”
