The aim of this study is to improve the dielectric and mechanical properties of HDPE/BaTiO3 composites by binary BaTiO3 particles, when the volume fraction of BaTiO3 is constant. In this study, it was found that the pack density of binary BaTiO3 particles in HDPE/BaTiO3 composite relies on particle ratio and volume fraction of small particles. It is found that the addition of 50 vol % 1600 nm BaTiO3 particles can boost the dielectric constant of HDPE control from 2 to 30 (14 times higher) at 40 Hz and 19 (8.5 times higher) at 40 MHz, respectively. When the particle ratio was 4, the substitution of 10 vol % 1600 nm BaTiO3 particles by 10 vol % 400 nm BaTiO3 particles can further enhance the dielectric constant of HDPE/L‐BT (10/10) from 30 to 50 (67% increase) at 40 Hz and from 19 to 42 (121% increase) at 40 MHz, respectively, without greatly influencing the volume resistivity of HDPE composites. Reduced graphene oxide (RGO) or graphite is functionalized with hydroxyl groups for linking to the sides of polyurethane (PU) chains. Blended PU with RGO or graphite is prepared as a control for comparison. The PU composites are compared with respect to their spectroscopic, thermal, mechanical, shape memory, and sheet resistance properties. Scanning electron microscopy images demonstrate the good distribution of functionalized graphene oxide (FGO) or functionalized graphite (FG) particles on the inner surface of the PU. The linking of FGO or FG onto PU does not significantly affect the thermal behavior or shape memory properties but sharply improves the tensile strength of the PU composites without a noticeable decrease in tensile strain. The shape recovery of PU composites remains at approximately 90%, regardless of the FGO or FG content. The FG-linked PU composites exhibit a sharp decrease in sheet resistance as the FG content increases, whereas the sheet resistance of the FGO-linked PU composites does not decrease with increasing FGO content. The control PU composites with blended RGO or graphite show significant reductions in their sheet resistance. Considering the ease of functionalization of the graphite surface and the significant improvement in tensile strength, linking FG onto PU is advantageous for the development of PU composites with low sheet resistance.

A simple, environmentally friendly, and efficient synthesis method for cellulose/silver (Ag) nanocomposites was developed by microwave heating an alkaline aqueous solution of cellulose fiber and silver nitrate (AgNO3), which resulted in good utilization of silver ions and a product with high silver content. The effect of the alkaline compounds and reducing agents on the silver content and utilization rate of silver ions was investigated using atom absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The morphology, size, thermal stability, and surface components of cellulose/Ag nanocomposites were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and Raman spectroscopy. The alkaline compound and reducing agent influenced the size and shape of the silver nanoparticles. Reduced silver ions had the greatest influence on the surface components of cellulose; however, nano-silver particles exhibited no obvious influence on cellulose's thermal stability. Furthermore, cellulose/Ag nanocomposites exhibited excellent antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus.
