Conducting solids

Abstract

This Chapter reviews the literature reported during 2006 on conducting solids to include both ionic and electronic conductors. Particular emphasis is given to materials of relevance for Li ion battery and solid oxide fuel cell applications. HighlightsIn the area of Li ion batteries, highlights include the reports of high Li ion conductivity in crystalline polymers by Bruce et al., as well as further work by Gover et al. on novel vanadium phosphate based cathode materials. In the area of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells, highlights have included the reports of a new sulphur tolerant perovskite anode, Sr 2 MgMoO 6Àd , by Huang et al., and proton conduction in rare earth niobates/tantalates by Haugsrud et al.
