Applications of process skill approach and cooperative learning model to improve learning achievement of students have been studied. However, it is a little known on using the learning approach combined with the learning model. Therefore, this paper reveals a study on process skill approach combined with cooperative learning to improve motivation and learning achievement of students on structure and development of plant I subject. The study was implemented using classroom action research consisting of three cycles. Each cycle includes a planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data were analyzed with descriptive and inferential statistical tests. Results of the study showed that application of process skill approach and cooperative learning model could increase motivation and achievement of the students in the course. Aspects of the process skills done by the students during the lesson were observation, classification, interpretation, experiment design, communication, question, answering, refuse to answer, opinions, discussion, hypothesis and applying a concept or principle.

This research aims to identify learning problems and the parents’roles in overcoming learning difficulties of 5<sup>th</sup>-grade students of Muhammadiyah Karangturi Elementary School, Bantul, Yogyakarta. Research participants were six students with learning difficulties, six parents, and four teachers. Selection of subjects used purposive sampling technique. Research object was the parents’ roles in overcoming students’ learning difficulties. This research was a qualitative research with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis technique was the interactive model (data collection, data reduction, data models, and drawing conclusions). The results showed that the problems experienced by students with learning difficulties in Muhammadiyah Karangturi Elementary School were lower than average learning outcomes, slow understanding, and lack of reasonable attitudes, behavior, and emotional symptoms during the learning process. The parents’ roles in overcoming students’ learning difficulties are finding tutoring institutions for children, accompanying children when coming and going home from school, being good listeners, accompanying learning activities at home, taking children on the first day of school, meeting with teachers through parents association, and present at the distribution of learning outcomes report card.

Environmental stewardship starts with education. This paper aims to discuss how preschools can be used to nurture environmental stewards among Malaysian children. In summary, elements of preschool physical environments can be manipulated to enhance environmental education while landscape elements such as vegetation and topography can be manipulated to maximize interaction with nature. Effective interaction with nature is the most important factor to ensure environmental awareness. Findings are useful for Malaysian designers and policy makers to ensure that preschool’s physical settings support environmental education to respond to climate change and preserve the planet for future generations.© 2016.
