Concurrent Validity of Administering the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) Instrument by Interview

Abstract: In this study we measure the concurrent validity of administering FIM™ instrument ("FIM") by interview. Data from twenty-eight community-dwelling, cognitively intact, elderly patients with hip fracture were collected in five post-acute rehabilitation facilities. Within 72 hours of admission to (and at discharge from) the post-acute facilities, both a FIM-certified interviewer and a multidisciplinary team administered the FIM instrument to each participant concurrently.
