Varieties-of-capitalism scholars argue for national differences between liberal and coordinated market economies. Others argue that economic sectors come with distinct modes of governance. A third research strand explains the economic governance of companies through the regional system of innovation and production in which they are embedded. Problematically, this current state leaves the question open about how national, sectoral and regional economic governance interact. D'autres affirment que les secteurs économiques vont de pair avec des styles de gouvernance bien définies. Une troisième piste de recherche explique la gouvernance économique des sociétés à partir d'un système d'innovation et de production régional où elles sont ancrées. Problématiquement, cette situation actuelle laisse ouverte la question de comment interagissent les gouvernances économiques aux niveaux national, sectoriel et régional. Employant des études de cas auprès de trois projets de recherche, cet article montre comment on peut combiner les niveaux national, sectoriel et régional de gouvernance économique en avancant l'argument que des institutions incohérentes peuvent s'avérer complémentaires.
