Conclusion: Building Bridges for a Sustainable Future

Abstract

The chapter presents a reflection on the complex and integrated nature of sustainable development, where the environmental, social, and economic dimensions are impossible to separate. Drawing on key observations from the previous chapters, it calls for a co-creation of knowledge through collaboration between disciplines and actors to achieve the societal transformations required for the materialisation of sustainable development. The chapter also highlights three emerging avenues for further research and innovation: (a) the need for small-scale projects; (b) the role of participatory and non-broadcast communication; and (c) the integration of ideas, actors, and practices from the private sector and the world of business in the field of communication and social change.
