Abstract:Ionic liquids (ILs) are considered as a new-generation electrolyte for electrochemical devices such as fuel cells. When in contact with water, ILs can form a liquid j liquid interface due to their hydrophobicity. This feature allows us to build a conceptual membraneless device for energy generation by combining the oxygen reduction and hydrogen oxidation reactions in acid aqueous electrolyte and in [Bmim][PF 6 ], respectively. The IL j water interface serves as an ion-exchange interface, allowing the proton tr… Show more
“…70 Such IL-based electrolytes have strong potential for renewable energy technology and are considered as a new generation of electrolytes. 70,71 Due to their ability to ensure ion conductivity, namely proton transfer at the temperature above 100 °C, ILs become the subject of investigation in both academic and industrial sectors. 71 It is quite obvious that the comprehensive investigation of molecular dynamics and the proton transport behaviour of ILs is necessary for a deeper understanding of their work process in hydrogen fuel cells.…”

“…On the other hand, due to their lower vapor pressure, high thermal stability, non-flammability and high ionic conductivity, ionic liquids (IL) have been applied in various fields. 28,29 Poly(ionic liquids) (PILs) are obtained by polymerizing the IL monomer. 30 PILs combine the common features of polymeric materials with the unique properties of ILs.…”
