Conceptual development of the transition from drill and blast excavation to non-blasting methods for the preparation of mined rock in surface mining

Abstract: This article is devoted to the conceptual development of the transition from drill and blast excavation to a non-blasting method for the preparation of hard rock before excavation at construction material deposits. The scientifi c and technical literature on the problems in the blasting of hard rock in preparation for excavation is analysed. A classifi cation of mining equipment for the non-blasting development of a rock mass for excavation has been developed, taking into account the nature of the operation of… Show more

“…Changes in the rock mass stress is identified by means of identity of values obtained between them. Accuracy of the final results is provided owing to the use of the relevant principles of elastoplastic or plastic deformations and densification or coarsening of networks of the solids depending upon the required accuracy of the final results [64]- [66].…”

“…When drilling for oil, gas, and water and during the extraction of other minerals, rock is ruined and brought to the surface by the washing liquid because of the metal drill bit-rock interaction. The rigidity of the drill string, and hence the interaction between the drill bit and the rock, is dependent on the material of the drill pipe (the most commonly used are: steel of different strength groups, such as steel 40 KhN, aluminum alloys AD31 and duralumin D16T, titanium alloy VT1-0 as well as magnesium alloys and composite carbon materials) [21][22][23].…”

“…It has been proved that complex optimization, in contrast to the deterministic approach, is more effective. Under these conditions, the possibilities of planning, designing and increasing the efficiency of mass explosions are greatly expanded due to the use of the latest communication technologies and computer systems, laser measuring technologies, drilling machines equipped with GPS, new explosives, charge structures and means of their controlled explosion, measuring the effectiveness of explosives and assessing the explosin results [8], [9].…”
