Computer‐Mediated Communication ( CMC )

Abstract: Computer‐mediated communication (CMC) has entered every aspect of our professional and private lives and, consequently, it plays a notable role in learning and teaching practices. This article presents a brief overview of the development of CMC and situates it within the literature on language acquisition and language use. It then discusses some pedagogical implications for CMC language use and awareness for both teachers and students.
