Computer assisted semen analysis of deccani ram semen presevability at 5ºC

Abstract: To investigate the preservability of Deccani ram semen in three different extenders - SC (Sodium Citrate), T (Tris), C (Coconut milk) egg yolk extenders after dilution and chilling (5ºC) at 1, 24 and 48 hr. of storage. Eight Deccani adult rams (aged 2-4 years) were selected and ejaculate from each ram was divided into 3 aliquots and diluted with SC, T and C extenders (final concentration - 400 million spermatozoa/0.2 ml semen) and stored at 5ºC. Semen evaluation was done by computer assisted semen analyser (CA… Show more

“…Ismaya et al, (2012) also noticed semen volume 0.89 mL and semen colour varied from milky to thick creamy. In contrast, Rajashri et al, (2017) reported semen volume as 0.63±0.27 mL in Deccani rams which is lower than the present findings. The variations in the semen parameters in rams may be due to change in season and age (Benia et al, 2018).…”

“…In association, it should also be considered that in addition to the increase in metabolic activity and sperm degeneration (Gangwar et al, 2020) these gametes produce ROS under aerobic conditions as a function of their metabolism, contributing to the installation of oxidative stress by favoring pro-oxidant agents over those antioxidants (Lenzi et al, 2002;Piomboni et al, 2012;Gangwar et al, 2015;Tariq et al, 2015). Thus, as the number of dead sperms increases, oxidative stress is intensified, causing the oxidation of essential biomolecules such as proteins and lipids (Tariq et al, 2015;Rajashri et al, 2017). A contrary result was observed for membrane integrity in the 720h period (Fig.…”
