“…The approach is simpler than that of Simpson et al, and involves mounting the fixator on a deformed artificial bone and performing CT scans in combination with navigation of fixator parameters using a tracking system for evaluation. 40 Our setup, therefore, enables engineers to improve the construction and software if any dysfunction or inaccuracies are detected, which wein line with Tang and colleaguesbelieve to be a paramount objective. 41 It further provides valuable insight for orthopedic surgeons, helping them to choose the best available fixator option for a given patient.…”

“…Other orthopedic surgeons had done a lot of research in these areas. Simpson et al used CT images for 3D reconstruction to perform virtual surgery [14]. He introduced a tracking stylus to digitize the connection holes as reference points on the TSF ring, or used the information of the bone surface for registration.…”

“…Radiographs cannot obtain accurate information about the limb's axial view: deformity parameters related to the rotation has to be estimated by physical examinations [13]. The measurement of the parameters is greatly disturbed by the subjective error of the measurer [14]. The above drawbacks often lead to poor alignment of the fracture after reduction.…”

“…The development of 3D-CT has revolutionized the field of imaging in a variety of orthopedic surgeries. Reconstructed 3D-CT images have been widely used for preoperative planning [13][14][15][16][17][18]. Here we conducted a 3D-CT assessment of alignment for lower limb deformities using such images.…”
