Computational prediction of deformation behavior of TRIP steels under cyclic loading

Abstract: A constitutive equation accounting for strain rate, temperature and applied stress system dependencies of strain-induced martensitic transformation is given. A series of computational prediction of monotonic and cyclic deformation behavior including tension, compression and shearing of typical 304 austenitic stainless steel, have been performed under different environmental temperatures from 77K to 353K. The effect of stress range, pre-strain, temperature and applied stress system on such responses of TRIP ste… Show more

“…If the number of related publications is taken into account (Iwamoto et al, 1998;Angel, 1954;De et al, 2006;Hecker et al, 1982;Mertinger et al, 2008;Tomita and Iwamoto, 1995;Tomita and Iwamoto, 2001), the AISI 304 can be considered to be the reference metastable austenitic stainless steel for studying the SIMT process. The AISI 304 belongs to the type called high alloy TRIP steels.…”

“…Iwamoto (1995, 2001) presents a model based on the work of Stringfellow et al (1992), one which features a strain evolution similar to that of Leblond (1989) and Leblond et al (1989) and also an evolution of the martensite transformation based on the theory of Olson and Cohen (1975). In Tomita and Iwamoto (2001) and in Iwamoto and Tsuta (2002) the influence of both the second and the third invariant of the deviatoric stress tensor is considered.…”
