Computational modeling of land surface temperature using remote sensing data to investigate the spatial arrangement of buildings and energy consumption relationship

Abstract: The effect of urban form on energy consumption has been the subject of various studies around the world. Having examined the effect of buildings on energy consumption, these studies indicate that the physical form of a city has a notable impact on the amount of energy consumed in its spaces. The present study identified the variables that affected energy consumption in residential buildings and analyzed their effects on energy consumption in four neighborhoods in Tehran: Apadana, Bimeh, Ekbatan-phase I, and Ek… Show more

“…5). Based on the previous research about the role of urban texture in reducing air temperatures [27,84,98] and the results of this study, organic urban structures due to its structural features, can improve airflow, thereby reducing air temperatures. Accordingly, it can be said that the cooling effect of the park is paramount in the western area than in other areas (855 m).…”

“…The Cortes neighborhood is located on the western side of the park situated in the old part of Madrid and has an organic structure ( Figure 5). Based on the previous research about the role of urban texture in reducing air temperatures (Taleb & Abu-Hijleh, 2013;Zhou et al, 2011;Faroughi et al, 2020) and the results of this study, organic urban structures due to its structural features, can improve air ow, thereby reducing air temperatures. Accordingly, it can be said that the cooling effect of the park is paramount in the western area than in other areas (855 m).…”

“…In most previous researches, the influential factors in locating tall buildings have been mentioned [32,33], but the prioritization and weighting of these criteria have not been studied in detail. In this study, according to the results, land price, urban texture, population density, and traffic sub-criteria are at the highest level, and surface and groundwater sub-criteria are at the lowest level in locating tall buildings by prioritization.…”
