“…Various thermosetting and thermoplastic resin systems are used by researchers for processing nanoclay/polymers. Among them, Nylon-6 [9-12, 63, 69] and Epoxy [6,21,26,66,68] systems have received much more attentions than Polyester [58], Polyimid [58], PU 3 [65,67], and PP 4 [61,64]. An overall picture of conducted experimental studies on nanoclay/ polymer is presented in Table 3.…”

“…Among the nanofillers used as reinforcement, nanosilica stands out because it offered a very significant enhancement in mechanical and thermal properties of fibre reinforced polymer composites as well as good dispersion in the epoxy resin [16][17]. Example of fibre reinforced polymer composites utilizing nanosilica-filled epoxies demonstrated that the compressive strength and stiffness of carbon fibre reinforced polymer improved with increasing number of nanosilica content without significant reduction in failure strain [18][19]. In other work, a study reported that nanosilica had shown good dispersion with the epoxy and enhancing the interlaminar shear strength as well as flexural strength compared to other fillers, thus improving the matrix properties [20].…”
