Compression Ring Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (Pipe) Precision and Accuracy Round Robin

Abstract

ASTM Committee F-17 on Plastic Piping Systems is developing a precision and accuracy statement for the Proposed Practice for Determination of Environmental Stress Crack Resistance (ESCR) of Polyethylene Pipe (1983 Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Vol. 8.04). The objective is to establish this proposed practice as a standard test method. This paper describes the results of the first round robin, which by the wide range of results demonstrates the need for explicit definition of test procedures. The data of the round robin are presented and the next steps necessary to successfully complete the precision and accuracy statement are described.
