Compressed Liquid Densities of 1-Pentanol and 2-Pentanol from 313 to 363 K at Pressures to 25 MPa

Abstract: Compressed liquid densities of 1-pentanol and 2-pentanol have been measured from 313 to 363 K at pressures to 25 MPa. Measurements have been achieved using a vibrating tube densimeter. Water and nitrogen are the reference fluids to calibrate the densimeter. Measurements uncertainties are estimated to be ±0.03 K for temperatures, ±0.008 MPa for pressures and ±0.20 kg·m −3 for densities. Two volume-explicit equations with five and six parameters and the 11-parameter BWRS equation of state are used to correlate t… Show more

“…The database for thermophysical properties of this compound, at present, is scarce and limited. Notice that in [1] the uncertainty is 0.2 kg m −3 (i.e. around 0.02%) but with narrow pressure interval (up to 25 MPa) and in the recent studies [9,10] the pressure interval is up to around 200 MPa but the uncertainty is only of the order of 0.4% (i.e.…”

“…In a recent article (Zuñiga-Moreno et al, [1]) it has been underlined that accurate PVT properties of pure compounds are required to develop and test Equation of states (EoS). The authors stressed that the evaluation of experimental properties data has become of high importance in the scientific community.…”
