Aim: This real-world study was aimed at establishing reference intervals (RIs) of ten commonly used clinical chemistry analytes (total cholesterol, triglycerides, Apo A1, Apo B, creatine kinase (CK), CK isoenzyme MB, glucose, alkaline phosphatase, γ-glutamyltransferase and blood urea nitrogen) in an apparently healthy population in China. Materials & methods: A total of 17,356 healthy participants aged 18–79 years who underwent check-up at MJ Health Check-up Center were included. The establishment of RIs was performed according to the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute EP28-A3c guideline. Roche Cobas c701 automatic analyzer (Roche Diagnostics, Mannheim, Germany) was employed to measure the concentrations of analytes. Results: Total cholesterol, triglycerides, Apo B, CK, alkaline phosphatase, glucose, γ-glutamyltransferase and blood urea nitrogen required gender and age-specific partitioning. Conclusion: The RIs established in this study were parallel to current national standards and previous RIs established in Chinese population. Real-world studies may play an important and practical role in the determination of RIs in the future.

Age-and sex-specific reference intervals (RIs) for some biochemical tests may be useful for their interpretation, due to the variations in lifestyle and genetic, or ethnic factors. The aim of this study was to obtain RIs for some routine biochemical markers including a serum lipid profile, fasting blood glucose (FBG), aspartate and alanine aminotransferase (AST and ALT), uric acid, and body mass index (BMI) in subjects who attended primary healthcare centers. The large database of primary healthcare centers uses RIs to report results for children, adolescents, and young and old adults. RIs were obtained by using the indirect method, recommended by the CLSI Ep28-A3 guidelines. RIs for FBG, BMI, and serum lipid profile, including triglyceride, total cholesterol, highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol in people aged 18 to 120 years, were obtained without age/sex segmentation. Introduction:We aimed to define specific reference intervals (RIs) for 11 biomarkers including inflammatory and oxidative stress biomarkers, liver, and renal function tests in a healthy Iranian adult population for the first time. Methods: CLSI Ep28-A3 guidelines were then used to calculate accurate ageand sex-as well as body mass index (BMI)-specific RIs. Results: RIs for studied biomarkers showed no significant age and sex-specific differences, except for uric acid, which had higher concentrations in men when compared to women. Additionally, after partitioning the participants based on the BMI with a cutoff point of 25 kg/m 2 , only the levels of hs-CRP were positively associated with higher BMI (RI for BMI>25: 0.
