Abstract:The leaves of Monteverdia ilicifolia (syn. Maytenus ilicifolia) are widely used in traditional South American medicine to treat gastrointestinal problems such as gastritis and ulcers. Several herbal products containing the leaves of M. ilicifolia can be found in the market.
