Comprehensive Effects of Near-Infrared Multifunctional Liposomes on Cancer Cells

Abstract: Multifunctional theranostic systems are a recent important development of medical research. We combined the characteristics of near-infrared luminescent quantum dots and thermosensitive magnetoliposomes to develop a multifunctional nano-diagnostic material. This system is based on near-infrared magnetic thermosensitive liposomes, which encapsulate drugs and can control drug localization and release. After incubating cancer cells with the liposomes, the state of the cells was analyzed in real time by near-infra… Show more

“…13 Nanoformulationsare considered a useful and promising tool for effective treatment of cancer due to reduced toxicity, stability, more loading capacity, higher efficacy, and drug-loaded tolerability in nanoparticles compared to traditional chemotherapy drugs. 14,15 The limitation of a conventional chemotherapeutic drug is minimized by transforming it into a nanoformulation. Nanotechnology immensely provides essential initial diagnosis and bioimaging, multifunction therapies, and drug delivery systems.…”

“…The advantage is not only of small size but properties like the ability to design from multiple materials such as lipids that include SLN (solid lipid nanoparticles) and liposomes, polymers include polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) and inorganic substances like gold NPs. 15,16 Various types of nanoparticles based delivery systems have been developed and also used in clinical diagnosis and therapy. For cancer immunotherapy, the nanoparticles are divided into two types; synthetic and natural nanoparticles.…”
