Comprehensive analysis of the coated component from a FORD engine

Abstract: The article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the coating of a component from the Ford Focus 1.0 l EcoBoost engine. It is one of a pair of materially identical aluminum gears connected by a drive pulley and a drive. Aluminum gear components are surface treated with a mixture of metal powders using PVD technology, where the goal of the coating is to increase the hardness, abrasion resistance and heat of the base material. The chemical composition of the basic material of the geared aluminum drive wheel … Show more

“…The dynamic progress in manufacturing technology and available research methods recorded in recent years, along with the constantly growing demand for machines and technical devices characterized by high reliability, constitute the premise for conducting research on fatigue strength of construction materials [1][2][3][4][5][6]. Industrially produced steels contain in their chemical composition, in addition to alloying additives (which include Si, Mn, Cr, Mo, V, W, B and others), blends and impurities (such as S, P, O i inne) and other impurities introduced into the alloy as a result of Technological process (e.g.…”

“…The chemical composition of the designed geopolymers depends on the desired application [5]. Geopolymer coatings can be applied to various surfaces, such as wood, polymers, metals or concrete [6][7][8][9]. Their main advantages of using alkaline silicate coatings as passive fire protection are less environmental concerns, resistance to microorganisms and UV radiation.…”
