Compounds of Selenium and Tellurium with Nitrogen Bonds

Abstract: In the last three decades the field of the traditionally more exotic selenium nitrogen and tellurium nitrogen compounds has developed considerably. This review presents some of the recent results with a focus on crystal structures. The application of nitrogen NMR spectroscopy will be illustrated as an additional useful tool for the characterization of SeN and TeN materials. This chapter includes newer results on binary, ternary, organoselenium and organotellurium amides, imides, azides and other classes of com… Show more

“…However, after 1 h stirring of 1 with 3.4 equiv. SeCl 2 , the reaction was complete, and the desired 3-chloro-2-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl) [1,2]selenazolo- [2,3-a]pyridin -8-ium chloride (20) was isolated in nearly quantitative yield (93 %). Notably, the reaction was performed in the dark to avoid the disproportionation of SeCl 2 .…”

“…Additional model compounds were obtained by using 1-(pyridin-2-ylethynyl)cyclohexanol (2) and 1,1-diphenyl-3-(pyridin-2-yl)prop-2-yn-1-ol (3) as starting materials and treating them with Se(II) and Se(IV) chlorides under the same reaction conditions ( Table 1). The hydroxycyclohexyl-and hydroxydiphenylmethyl-substituted selenazolopyridinium chlorides 21 and 22, respectively, were isolated in moderate yields (25-65 %).…”
