Compositional and Tribo‐Mechanical Characterization of Ti‐Ta Coatings Prepared by Confocal Dual Magnetron Co‐Sputtering

Abstract: Titanium-Tantalum coatings are deposited by magnetron co-sputtering technique, using independently driven titanium and tantalum targets. The effect of the Ta content on the structure, mechanical, and wear properties of Ti films is investigated. It is found that the percentage of the added Ta varies linearly from 3.7 to 31.3 at% by increasing the power applied to the Ta target from 10 to 100 W. The XRD results show that the coatings are crystalline, and there is no evidence of the formation of intermetallic pha… Show more

“…The spectrum confirms the presence of the characteristic peaks of the hexagonal metastable phase α". These results can be confirmed in previous studies [70][71][72]. Finally, the spectrum of the composite formed from the Ti-30Ta alloy coated with P(VDF-TrFE)/BaTiO3 film can be seen in Figure 7d.…”

“…Мейснер го индентирования. Данный метод позволяет выявлять различия упругого и пластического деформационного поведения в нанокомпозитных покрытиях [10], аморфных материалах [11], а также в многослойных композиционных системах из чередующихся аморфных и нанокристаллических слоев [12], в том числе, в материалах с градиентным изменением состава [10][11][12]. В исследованиях, перечисленных выше, толщина исследуемых систем составляла от ∼ 1−2 µm.…”

“…The developed micro multielectrode theory has been proved effective in improving cathode ablation resistance. Bahrami et al [ 32 ] realized the preparation of nanocrystalline Ti–Ta coatings through magnetron cosputtering technique. With grain size less than 50 nm, the metallic coating would accelerate the shifting of cathode spots, which guarantees its potential as cathodes.…”
