Ultra-thin wearing course (UTWC) as an asphalt overlay is widely used in pavement maintenance for extending pavement service life. Researchers focused on improving and evaluating its performance, yet few researchers compare the performance of typical UTWCs. Moreover, some traditional asphalt mixture tests are improper for UTWC due to the thicknesses of UTWC, which is thinner than the traditional asphalt overlay. This study further evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of typical UTWCs. A series of tests were conducted to compare the comprehensive performance of three typical UWTC products, including SMA-10, Novachip-B, and GT-10. Moreover, this study improved the rutting test to evaluate its rutting performance more accurately. Rutting specimens of 20 mm thick and 50 mm thick composite specimens (20 mm UTWC + 30 mm Portland cement concrete slabs) were prepared. Two types of PCC slabs were used, including unprocessed PCC slabs and PCC slabs with preset cracks. The test results showed that Novachip-B showed the best water stability and weakest raveling resistance, while GT-10 showed the best fatigue and anti-skid performance. The rutting performance of UTWCs was reduced because of the influence of preset cracks. The rutting depth of GT-10 was only 60–90% of that of others, showing the comprehensive performance of GT-10 was better than that of others. These results provide a significant reference for the research and application of UTWC.

The purpose of this study is to further improve the road performance and emission reduction effect of tourmaline-modified asphalt. Graphene was used to enhance the performance of tourmaline-modified asphalt, and graphene/tourmaline-composite-modified asphalt was prepared. The temperature susceptibility, high temperature, anti-aging properties and rheological performance of the modified asphalt were studied. The test method of emission reduction efficiency of the modified asphalt and its mixture was proposed. The emission reduction effect of different modified asphalts and its mixture was evaluated. The enhancement effect of graphene on the properties of tourmaline-modified asphalt was confirmed. It provides a reference for the performance enhancement of inorganic material modified asphalt. The results show that the temperature susceptibility, high temperature, anti-aging properties and rheological performance of the graphene/tourmaline-composite-modified asphalt are better than those of the tourmaline-modified asphalt and base asphalt. The asphalt fume reduction rate of graphene/tourmaline-composite-modified asphalt is higher than that of tourmaline-modified asphalt. With the increase of graphene content, the emission reduction performance increases gradually, and the enhancement effect of graphene on tourmaline performance is more obvious.

In this work, epoxy resin (EP)-based aqueous polyurethane (PU) anionic PU dispersion was synthesized by the prepolymer and self-emulsification method. The PU prepolymer was first synthesized to serve as seeds. Then, trimethylolpropane and A-type EP (E-51) were introduced into it, followed by neutralization and emulsification reactions, and, finally, it formed a crosslinking network structural waterborne PU emulsion. The effect of epoxy contents on the particle size, rheological properties, storage stability, thermal stability, mechanical properties, and hydrophilicity of the resulting PU films was systematically investigated. The results showed that the PU dispersions displayed excellent storage stability and crosslinking density, and the glass transition temperature of the composite films was increased. The properties of self-made epoxy-modified polyurethane emulsion and polyester-cotton fabric before and after finishing were tested. The wrinkle resistance, hydrophobicity, and strength of the finished polyester/cotton fabric are improved, and it exhibits better color fastness to washing and rubbing.
