Composition of cooling load formed by non-transparent envelopes of a common office building under air-conditioning intermittent operation

Abstract: Under air-conditioning intermittent operation, interior envelopes become the quasi-exterior ones of a partial room and thereby may cause the specified heat loss. However, it is unknown for the heat transfer capacity rate of interior envelopes in the room heat loss, which is of vital significance on the optimization direction of envelopes. To analyze the cooling load composition formed by non-transparent envelopes, an office building was chosen and inner surface heat flows in the studied room were measured unde… Show more

“…The intermittent air conditioning operation is always caused by the occupancy behavior [7,8]. However, the indoor thermal environment of an intermittently air-conditioned house suffers large fluctuations because of the on-off cycling of air-conditioning, resulting in the discomfort of personnel [9].…”

“…However, Barrios et al [17] comparatively studied the energy consumption during intermittent heating and found that external insulation was more appropriate. Meng et al [7] found that the average heat transfer could account for 17-22% of the total heat loss under air-conditioning intermittent operation. Li et al [18] showed that taking advantage of the heat storage and release process of building envelope inside part effectively made the indoor temperature stable after stopping air-conditioning, which could reduce the operation time and be a benefit for energy-saving.…”

“…Reducing the surgical site infections (SSIs) and improving the thermal comfort for patient and staffs are among the main concerns in design of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for applications involving indoor air quality (Ho et al, 2009a) in applications such as compartment of a passenger coach, hightech Semiconductor fabrication plant, isolation room, general ward, large scale power plants, automobiles, and data centers, residential buildings (Meng et al, 2020). The use of suitable filtration of air and controlling the airflow patterns in the operating rooms can minimize the risk of contamination, and may reduce the number of bacteria-carrying particles (BCPs).…”
