Composition of Anastrepha species (Diptera: Tephritidae) in habitats with different levels of anthropogenic activity

Show more

“…Dominance of a few fruit fly species is often found in surveys in an agricultural environment (Aluja et al, 1996). These two species have been frequently recorded as dominant in commercial orchards in Brazil (Nascimento & Zucchi, 1981; Dutra et al, 2009; Marsaro Júnior et al, 2013; Oliveira et al, 2017). Both species occur throughout Brazil and are associated with a wide range of host plants (Zucchi & Moraes, 2022).…”

“…Likewise, studies in human-impacted areas may provide important information about the population dynamics of fruit fly species (Uramoto et al 2003(Uramoto et al , 2004(Uramoto et al , 2005. For example, in studies carried out in three different areas (urban, research station, and agricultural), the highest diversity and similarity among several species of Anastrepha were observed in the urban and research-station areas (Oliveira et al 2017).…”

“…The dominance of few fruit fly species is generally common in surveys in an agricultural environment . These species have been recorded as dominant in commercial orchards in Brazil (Dutra et al, 2009;Marsaro Junior et al, 2013;Oliveira et al, 2017). These species are part of a complex of cryptic species with a wide range of hosts .…”
