“…Marine records from the North Atlantic and the Labrador Sea show that a large amount of tephra has also been transported by pack ice or by surface and bottom currents into these areas (e.g. Ruddiman and Glover, 1972;Fillon and Duplessy, 1980;Fillon et al, 1981;Kvamme et al, 1989;Bard et al, 1994;Lacasse et al, 1995Lacasse et al, , 1998Lackschewitz and Wallrabe-Adams, 1997) (Fig. 1, Table 1).…”

“…Wastegård & Rasmussen (2014) also present evidence to support the discovery of a new basaltic tephra layer, up to 20 cm thick, in marine cores from the Faroe Islands margin, which they name the Faroe Marine Ash Zone (FMAZ) IV. While mainly deposited and redistributed by strong bottom currents, the authors show from the rather uniform geochemistry that the tephra is relatively unmixed and assign an age of 46.8 + 1 kyr BP; they suggest that FMAZ IV is correlative to ash zone V5, previously described from the Reykjanes Ridge by Lackschewitz & Wallrabe-Adams (1997). A follow-up investigation of this deposit is also outlined in Griggs et al (in press).…”

“…Dans la région centrale de la dorsale, la sédimentation consiste en des dépôts argilosilteux riches en spicules d'épongés et carbonates biogéniques avec des sables et graviers en proportions variables (Hillaire-Marcel et al, 1991;Lackschewitz, 1997). De nombreux débris de verres basaltiques, en relation directe avec l'activité volcanique dans la région du rift, y sont également décrits dans les échantillons de surface (p. ex.…”
