Composites cement/BaSO4/Fe3O4/CuO for improving X-ray absorption characteristics and structural properties

Abstract: Composite cement/BaSO4/Fe3O4/CuO with a thickness of 0.6 cm for various amounts of CuO: 2 wt%, 4 wt%, 6 wt%, and 8 wt% were successfully synthesized for the X-ray radiation shield. The bonding characteristics of composite and structural properties were determined using Fourier transform infrared spectra for the wavelength range of 4000–400 cm−1 and X-ray diffraction with the range of 2θ from 25° to 50°, respectively. The shielding ability was measured using a mobile X-ray with an energy of 55, 66, and 77 keV f… Show more

“…In recent years, inorganic fillers such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), 27,28 boron nitride (BN), 29 silicon dioxide (SiO 2 ), 30,31 BaSO 4 32 and calcium sulfate whisker (CSW) 33,34 have been used as reinforcing agents to improve the many properties of LDPE/HDPE foam such as their mechanical, chemical, and physical properties. 35 Inorganic fillers not only improve the morphology and physical properties of foaming materials, but also act as nucleating agents in the LDPE/HDPE foam process, resulting in a decrease in cell size and an increase in cell density.…”

“…[23][24][25] For these reasons, LDPE resin is generally blended with polymers that are compatible with it and have enhancement mechanisms, for example, LDPE/HDPE blends are commonly used for coaxial cable insulation to meet the requirement of both the mechanical properties and the foaming performances. 26 In recent years, inorganic fillers such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), 27,28 boron nitride (BN), 29 silicon dioxide (SiO 2 ), 30,31 BaSO 4 32 and calcium sulfate whisker (CSW) 33,34 have been used…”
