Complications Requiring Hospital Management After Bariatric Surgery

Abstract: Background: The actual gold standard technique for obesity treatment is the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. However, complications may occur and the surgeon must be prepared for them. Aim: To evaluate retrospectively the complications occurrence and associated factors in patients who underwent bariatric surgery. “…Because laparoscopic cholecystectomy has been described as the most frequent surgical operation performed after bariatric surgery [9] and controversies still exist with regard to screening and management, we performed a systematic review with the aim to establish guidelines governing the empiric removal of gallbladders, diseased or healthy, at the time of minimally invasive bariatric surgery. Additional objectives include the creation of guidelines for diagnostic biliary ultrasound before and after bariatric surgery, as well as the role of UDCA to prevent gallstones after bariatric surgery.…”
