PURPOSE. To investigate the retinal vascular network alterations in highly myopic eyes.METHODS. Thirty-three highly myopic eyes from 21 subjects and 47 mildly myopic or emmetropic eyes from 24 healthy control subjects were enrolled. Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) was used to image the superficial, deep, and whole retinal vascular plexuses at the macular region. Highly myopic eye images were analyzed after adjusting the ocular magnification using Bennett's formula. Fractal analysis (box counting method, D box ) representing vessel density was performed in different annular and quadrantile zones of both large vessels and microvessels. Correlations between the vascular density, axial length, and spherical equivalent refractive error were analyzed. RESULTS.The average density (D box ) of the superficial retinal annular zone (0.6-2.5 mm) microvessels was 1.741 6 0.018 in highly myopic eyes and was shown to be significantly lower than that of the controls (1.773 6 0.010, P < 0.001). Individual annular zone (bandwidth of 0.16 mm) analysis of highly myopic eyes revealed a significant level of microvessel alteration in all zones compared with the same zones in control eyes (P < 0.001). Furthermore, in the highly myopic group, the microvessel density was significantly correlated with axial length elongation in all three layers (r ¼ À0.38 to À0.48; P < 0.05).CONCLUSIONS. This study reveals retinal microvascular network alterations in highly myopic eyes, which correlates with axial length elongation. Fractal analysis of the microvasculature by OCTA images may help to characterize the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms involved in high myopia.

The development of computer and information technology has human society enter a brand-new information era. The most obvious change is that information becomes inevitable living focus in human life. The promotion of education reform in the world also has information education present the important status, expecting to train students' capability to grasp information and enhance the learning outcome with information technology. Eventually, they could learn the survival skills in the information society as well as promote national competitiveness. With quasiexperimental study, 252 students in Harbin Institute of Technology are proceeded 16-week (3hr per week for total 48 hours) experimental teaching. The research results show that 1.guided discovery teaching would affect learning achievement, 2.guided discovery teaching would influence learning outcome, 3.learning achievement presents significantly positive effects on learning effect in learning outcome, and 4.learning achievement shows remarkably positive effects on learning gain in learning outcome. Finally, suggestions, according to the results, are proposed, expecting to provide thinking methods and direction for students' learning, encourage students to make deeper thinking, and help students establish learning achievement in the principle discovery process to enhance learning efficiency through the practice of computer network technology in guided discovery teaching.

Efforts to understand the genetic aetiology of complex traits have gained a lot of momentum in the last decade. Advancement of next generation sequencing and the ever-decreasing price of genotyping platforms have allowed us to carry out a vast number of genome wide association studies (GWAS). Until relatively recently, GWAS was guided by the common disease -common genetic variation paradigm.However, recent findings and developments have made us look at the bigger picture, including rare genetic variation. In addition, methodological developments are guiding the translation of GWAS findings. For instance, diverse statistical methods can be applied on genetically informative data to estimate the genetic correlation between complex diseases. The latter can have important medical implications, as genetically correlated diseases might be responsive to the same treatments. Also, approaches such as Mendelian randomization (MR) can help investigations of causal factors in disease when is unfeasible to carry out randomized control trials.My focus is on the application of statistical methods in complex trait genetics -I cover a range of phenotypes, ranging from eye disease to cancer.
