Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical effect, knee function improvement and prognosis of double plate internal fixation and locking plate internal fixation in the treatment of tibial plateau fractures. Methods: Clinical data from 96 tibial plateau fracture patients treated at our hospital were analyzed retrospectively. Of these, 46 had been treated using locking plate internal fixation and 50 were treated with double T-shaped plate fixation. Clinically related indices, Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) score of knee function, and ability of daily living (ADL) score were evaluated during postoperative follow-up. Results: No significant differences were observed in pre-operative patient characteristics in both groups. Healing time, time to weight-bearing, tibial plateau angle (TPA) and lateral posterior angle (PA) were all superior in the locking plate fixation group compared to the double plate fixation group. At three months post-operative visit, range of motion, knee function, flexion deformity, muscle strength, pain, and stability metrics were all superior in the locking plate fixation group compared to the double plate fixation group. ADL scores were also higher in the locking plate fixation group than in the double plate fixation group at three and six months follow-up. FORP-USP) between April 2002 to March 2018. Data were collected regarding gender, age, color, etiology, treatment, associated facial fractures, fracture classification, complications and follow-up. The inclusion criteria were medical records of patient with mandible fractures, properly filled out and with the Informed Consent Term signed, excluding cases that did not meet these requirements. Data were collected by a single examiner and transported to a spreadsheet in the Microsoft Excel program and worked with absolute values, with a descriptive analysis of the results.Mandibular fractures were more prevalent in males (76,57%), in caucasians, between the second and third decade of life. The etiology most frequently observed was motorcycle accidents, the most common fracture site was the condyle, surgical treatment was the most used approach, and the postoperative infection was the most prevalent complication. We can conclude that the presence of addictions increases the risks of postoperative complications. The epidemiological profile of patient's victims of facial trauma with mandible fracture is important to prevent the occurrence of new traumas, as it indicates the most affected group. We can conclude that the presence of addictions increases the risk of postoperative complications. Re-operation cases were rare, revealing that the applied treatment was effective since it considers the patient's profile and fracture characteristics in order to guide him to the best treatment.
