Complexity of Functional Urban Spaces Evolution in Different Aspects: Based on Urban Land Use Conversion

Abstract: The evolution of urban spatial structure and urban land use is a topical issue in urban studies. The analysis of the complexity of functional urban spaces evolution is valuable for a deeper understanding of the changes in urban spatial structure. Taking the central city of Changchun as the study area, the paper uses the urban land conversion method to analyze the spatial and temporal characteristics of functional urban spaces evolution in different aspects. The study found that the evolution of functional urba… Show more

“…In this context, sustainable urban air traffic management is of paramount importance. However, urban areas are characterized as central core regions with dense population, high-value infrastructure, and a variety of associated socio-economic activities [7,8]. In addition, there are some technological difficulties, such as surveillance with and communication with UAVs in low-altitude airspace, especially in urban very low-level airspace [9].…”

“…Changes in the urban land use/cover and their environmental consequences, such as the sustainable development of urban space [8] and the spatial mode of urban land change [9], have become important topics in the field of urban land research. In the context of rapid urbanization, the phenomenon of conversion between different types of functional urban land often occurs in urban built-up areas [10]. However, scholars have not paid enough attention to the phenomenon.…”

“…The intra-urban land use has hardly changed, and the phenomenon of functional urban land replacement is not significant [35]. Land use in developing cities that are undergoing rapid urbanization is changing [10]. The expansion and replacement of urban land coexist.…”

“…Residential space differentiation characteristics and suburbanization of different income groups, segregation in urban poverty-stricken areas, and mixed living conditions among different races had also been studied [26][27][28][29][30][31]. The evolution of world urban networks, urban shrinkage, and spatial evolution of human settlements are also hot spots by scholars [32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39]. With the rapid development of science and technology, data collection is more extensive, such as questionnaires, night light data, land cover data, real estate network data, etc.…”
