Complexation du 2-[(5-méthylpyrazol-3-yl)méthyl]benzimidazole par le chlorure du cobalt

Abstract: The title compound, diaquabis{2‐[(5‐methylpyrazol‐3‐yl)methyl]benzimidazole}cobalt(II) dichloride dihydrate acetone solvate, [Co(C12H12N4)2(H2O)2]Cl2·2H2O·C3H6O, is composed of the cationic complex [Co(C12H12N4)2(H2O)2]2+, with two chloride ions, two water molecules and one acetone molecule. The cobalt ion, linked to two water molecules and four N atoms of the deformed ligand, exhibits a slightly distorted octahedral coordination.

“…They have long been targeted in synthetic investigation for their known biological activities and pharmacological properties such as antiviral (Lee & Kim, 2002), anticonvulsant (Eddington et al, 2002), antiinflammatory (Ko et al, 1998), and anti-bacterial activity (Kang et al, 2000). Also, varied pharmacological and chelating properties are associated with benzimidazole derivatives and pyridine (Sbai et al, 2003, Desai & Desai, 2006, Boros et al 2006. Thus it is expected that the association of benzimidazole and pyridine moiety with the isoxazole system would affect significantly the biological and complexing properties.…”

“…For example, the 5,6-dichloro-2-(isopropylamino)-1-1,b-L-ribofuranosyl-1-Hbenzimidazole is anovel benzimidazole derivative for treatment of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection and disease [1,2]. On the other hand, transition metal complexes with benzimidazole and its derivatives have attracted much attention due to interesting structural [3] and chemical properties [4], as well as due to their potential applications in biology [5] and material science [6]. The title crystal strucure is monomeric with the cadmium atom in afive-coordinate arrangement that is best described as adistorted trigonal bipyramide.…”
