Complex mode superposition method of nonproportionally damped linear systems with hysteretic damping

Abstract: The vibration response of a damped linear system is always calculated based on the mode superposition method. However, the construction of the damping matrix is difficult for the conventional mode superposition methods based on the viscous damping model, and this problem is much more serious for nonproportionally damped linear systems. The damping matrix based on the hysteretic damping model is easy to construct and unique, which is determined only by the structural stiffness and material loss factor. The time… Show more

“…Thus, the decision is made to employ the full-time method in the time-history analysis of the GPC pipe through the ANSYS platform. Further explanations in the case of the full-time method will be illuminated in the following points [51][52][53][54][55]:…”

“…The complex damping model is applied for dynamic analysis of engineering structures. 7,8 The complex damping model is constructed based on the frequency-domain responses due to a harmonic wave. And the dissipated energy in each cycle is not related to the vibration frequency of the harmonic wave.…”

“…These damped systems can be obtained with complex and real mode superposition (RMS). Sun et al (2021) proposed a complex mode superposition method (CMS) with “hysteretic damping” model to analyze linear system nonproportional damping. Sun et al (2020) presented a damping analysis with CMS using a “viscous damping” model.…”
