The effect of bolt support in mining roadways with fractured or weak surrounding rock is poor, and the roof easily loses stability. Studying the support control technology of bolts on fractured surrounding rock is necessary. Based on the theories of pressure arches and combined arch support, the bolt anchorage and anchorage effect angle are proposed a model is established, and the optimal bolt anchorage is calculated. The influence of related factors on the bolt anchorage and the scope of bolt action are analysed via numerical simulation and experimental methods. The pretightening force of the bolts and the spacing between the rows of bolts are positively correlated and negatively correlated with the bolt anchorage, respectively. The compression zone conforms to the reinforced arch state when the bolt end is anchored. The experimental work shows that the maximum spacing a of the anchor rods and the length L of the anchor rods in the surrounding rock satisfy 4.28a < 2L < 5a. The support of fractured surrounding rock is discussed, and the concept of roof fall prevention and control with an increasing or constant pretightening force, high surface strength and reasonable support density as the core principles is proposed. A field test of the Youzhong Coal Mine shows that the corresponding support effect is good and that this work provides a new method for roof support of fractured surrounding rock.

In this study, a sump in the Xingdong coal mine (buried at a depth of over 1200 m) was used to analyze the surrounding rock's stability and control technology. Under the combined influences of various complex conditions, such as the burial depth of over 1200 m, ultra-high ground stress, and location under the goaf, the sump support became extremely difficult, severely restricting the efficient production of the mine. The overall pressure-relief mechanisms and degree of the sump surrounding the rock environment under the goaf were studied, and the rationality of the sump location was verified through numerical simulations and field tests. A more effective support scheme was proposed based on the deformation characteristics and failure mechanisms of the temporary sump-surrounding rock under the supporting conditions. The combined control technology employed the lengthened strong anchor bolts (cables), full-section concrete-filled steel tubular supports, and pouring full-section reinforced concrete and full-section long-hole grouting reinforcement. The field test results showed that after adopting the new support scheme, the sump-surrounding rock tended to be stable after three months. The sump roof subsidence amount, floor heave amount, and convergence of the two sidewalls of the sump were 17.2–19.2 mm, 13.9–16.5 mm, and 23.2–27.9 mm, respectively, thus satisfying the application requirements. This study provides an essential reference for deep-mine roadway support under a complex high-ground-stress environment.

The pressure relief with large-diameter boreholes is one of the effective methods to prevent coal bumps in deep coal roadway. An unreasonable pressure relief design can cause the rockbolt support failure and aggravate the deformation of the surrounding rocks. In this paper, a coupling model of roadway sidewall considering borehole pressure relief and rockbolt support was established. The influence of the destressing borehole diameter on the rockbolt located in the plastic zone and the roadway deformation was studied by theoretical calculation and numerical simulation. The results show that there is a critical zone of the borehole diameter for the influence on the rockbolt normal stress and roadway convergence. When the destressing borehole diameter exceeds the critical zone, the rockbolt normal stress decreases sharply. Considering the existence of the broken zone in the surrounding rock, the bolehole diameters in the critical zone increase with the increase of the distance between the borehole and the rockbolt, the residual strength, and decrease with the increase of initial stress. In the engineering analysis, with the increase of the destressing borehole diameter, the ultimate pullout force of rockbolt decrease, and the plastic zone of surrounding rock, the roadway deformation, the maximum axial force, and slippage of the rockbolt all increase. Therefore, to better keep the stability of the surrounding rock in coal roadway, the borehole pressure relief needs to be coordinated with the rockbolt support. The destressing borehole diameter in the pressure relief design should not be greater than the critical zone.
