Complex Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield Domain Walls and Phase Transition in Mass in Supersymmetric QCD

Abstract: We study the domain walls connecting different chirally asymmetric vacua in supersymmetric QCD. We show that BPS -saturated solutions exist only in the limited range of mass m ≤ m * ≈ 0.8| < Tr λ 2 > | 1/3 . When m > m * , the domain wall either ceases to be BPS -saturated or disappears altogether. In any case, the properties of the system are qualitatively changed.

“…The corresponding central charge is present in the superalgebra [9] and such solitons are 1/2-BPS saturated. In previous work [10], we studied the BPS wall spectrum in this theory, following earlier work on BPS walls in other variants of N= 1 SQCD [9,[11][12][13][14][15][16][17]. The vacuum structure is illustrated in the plane of the superpotential in Fig.…”

“…The case with N f N c 2 1 has already been considered for SU͑2͒ [8,9], SU͑3͒ [10], and generalized to arbitrary SU͑N͒ in [11,14]. Since k N c 2 1, the corresponding domain walls connect a minimun and its nearest neighbor.…”

“…These models, for the case of (N 2 1) flavors, were considered in Refs. [8][9][10][11], where the analysis of the vacuum structure led the authors to conclude that the existence of BPS saturated domain walls was restricted to values for the mass m of the squark fields below a certain critical one. This jeopardized the idea of recovering pure gluodynamics by taking the limit m !`, which is precisely the issue we want to revise here.…”
