Complete nucleotide sequence of mitochondrial DNA in White Leghorn and White Plymouth Rock chickens

Abstract: Among the chicken breeds, White Leghorn (WL) and White Plymouth Rock (WR) are major breeds and have different history in their establishments. Whole mitochondrial DNA of the breeds were sequenced in order to elucidate the genetic relationship between the breeds. The lengths of the two WL and two WR mitochondrial DNA were found to be 16 788 and 16 785 base pairs, respectively. When the DNA sequences were compared, the similarity was found to be 99.96% (six nucleotide differences). In addition, the present study… Show more

“…Gallus gallus was selected as the outgroup. The resulting tree shows similar relationships to previous studies (Nishibori et al 2003;Yamamoto et al 2005;Slack et al 2006;Slack et al 2007;Gibb et al 2013;Lounsberry et al 2015;Han et al 2016;Eo and An 2016;Kim and Park 2016;Yang et al 2016;Thomas et al 2017;Zhang et al 2017).…”

“…DNA was extracted from all the blood samples using the recommended protocol described by Sambrook and Russell (2000) and Nishibori et al (2002Nishibori et al ( , 2003. The mtDNA fragments were specifically amplified from mitochondrial genome in long PCR using the KOD-FX polymerase Journal of Poultry Science, 49 (4) 238 Samples from the districts of Dhaka and Chittagong division) (TOYOBO, Osaka Japan) with specimen DNA as a template and the LA-PCR primer sets, following the procedure recommended by the manufacturer.…”

“…A few works have been done to evaluate the genetic variability and interrelationship among red jungle fowls, Myanmar indigenous and commercial chickens based on the complete sequence of mtDNA genome (Nishibori et al, 2002;2003;2004;2005;Oka et al, 2007). Considering the above points, the complete sequence of the mitochondrial D-loop was used to investigate the phylogenic relationship within, and between the native chickens, Red junglefowls from Bangladesh, and neighboring Asian countries to identify unique population for characterization, conservation and further improvement of native chicken genetic resource.…”

“…Although some strain have indicated a high capacity for consumption of NSPs in the diets in comparison to others, still, high production hens need to meet a good and high level of diet sources. On the other hand, proliferation of intestinal cells could be changed by some fiber diets, thereby promoting cell by increasing DNA quantity and protein synthesis (Sonoyama et al, 1994;Iji et al, 2001;Olasunkanmi et al, 2003;Nishibori et al, 2003). Reduction in rate of digestion and absorption could occur due to decrease in protein synthesis in small intestine (Sell et al, 1991).…”
