Complete ¹H and 13C NMR assignments and anti fungal activity of two 8-hydroxy flavonoids in mixture

Abstract: A mixture of the two new flavonols 8-hydroxy-3,4',5,6,7-pentamethoxyflavone (1) and 8-hydroxy-3,3',4',5,6,7-hexamethoxyflavone (2) was isolated from a commercial sample of Citrus aurantifolia. An array of one-( 1 HNMR, { 1 H}-13 C NMR, and APT-13 C NMR) and two-dimensional NMR techniques (COSY, NOESY, HMQC and HMBC) was used to achieve the structural elucidation and the complete 1 H and 13 C chemical shift assignments of these natural compounds. In addition, the antifungal activity of these compounds against p… Show more

“…Lime juice and its essential oil are also commonly used in the food, drug, and cosmetic industries because of their medicinal properties and fragrance. The traditional and pharmacological uses of Citrus aurantifolia L. plants are attributed to the presence of secondary plant metabolites including flavonoids, coumarins, and terpenoids 5, 6, 7…”

“…Additionally, C. aurantifolia is used in traditional medicine as an antiseptic, anthelmintic, mosquito bite repellent, for stomach ailments, tonic, antiscorbutic, astringent, diuretic, headache, arthritis, digestive and appetite stimulant, and for colds, coughs and sore throats [ 13 , 14 ]. Previous investigations of C. aurantifolia have reported flavonoids, coumarins, and terpenoids [ 15 , 16 , 17 , 18 ]. Peel oil of C. auranifolia has been analyzed by GC-MS analysis several times [ 19 , 20 ].…”
