Complete Genome Sequence of the Mycobacterium immunogenum Type Strain CCUG 47286

Abstract: Here, we report the complete genome sequence of Mycobacterium immunogenum type strain CCUG 47286, a nontuberculous mycobacterium. The whole genome has 5,573,781 bp and covers as many as 5,484 predicted genes. This genome contributes to the task of closing the still-existing gap of genomes of rapidly growing mycobacterial type strains.

“…Mycobacterium immunogenum is a species of rapidly growing nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) that can cause community ( 1 , 2 ) and healthcare-associated ( 3 6 ) infections and outbreaks. Knowledge regarding the genomic content of M. immunogenum is limited, and few complete genomes have been reported ( 7 , 8 ).…”

“…Compared to the genomes of the M. immunogenum type strain CCUG 47286 ( 7 , 14 ) and FLAC016 ( 8 ), the C14-1.MIM genome is smaller and contains fewer CDSs. Our report, therefore, provides a novel and valuable reference strain to the M. immunogenum and NTM research community.…”

“…For each strain, the contigs were ordered using the closest genetically similar strain as the reference genome, either M. abscessus ATCC 19977 T ( 8 ), M. massiliense strain CCUG 48898 T ( 9 , 10 ), or M. immunogenum CCUG 47286 T ( 11 ), with Mauve version 2.4.0 ( 12 ). The sorted draft genomes were then manually gap-filled by identifying short segments (15 to 25 bp) on the ends of the two contiguous pieces that matched both ends of a single contig within the draft genome not already included by Mauve in the alignment.…”
